A hen party to remember, year after year

By Oliver · Hosting parties since 2018

The sketches, the cocktails, the stories you bring up every time you meet. Oliver shares how to plan a hen weekend that feels like your people.

Years later, someone says, “Do you remember her hen do?” And suddenly everyone is laughing again. That is the kind of weekend we want to help you create.

I’m Oliver, and I’ve been working at hen parties since 2018. I started as a butler in the buff, moved into cocktail masterclasses and then life drawing, and I still host cocktail-making and drawing sessions today. I love meeting people from different walks of life and being part of a celebration that matters to them.

For me, a memorable hen party starts with the people. Your oldest friends, your sisters, your work friends, perhaps people who have heard plenty about each other but haven’t met yet. Give them something fun to do together, leave room for conversation, and the weekend starts to feel like your own.

Start with the bride, then find your party activities

Before filling the itinerary, think about what makes her happiest. Is she first on the dance floor? Would she love an ABBA playlist and a cocktail shaker? Is she more at home in pyjamas with her closest friends, or dressed up for a private dinner? A cowgirl theme, matching black dresses with one white dress, or no theme at all can work beautifully when it feels like her.

The best hen party ideas give the group something to share without making every guest perform. Ask about comfort levels and budgets early. Make it easy for someone to sit out a surprise or take a breather. You want everyone remembering how welcome they felt.

Cocktail masterclasses: make something together

A mobile cocktail masterclass brings the activity to your hen-party accommodation or chosen venue. Over two hours, your host guides you through making cocktails, with spirits, ice, mixers, ingredients, garnishes and glassware included.

It gives the group a shared task and plenty to chat about: comparing creations, trying the techniques and getting that photo together around the table. You can choose three cocktails for £40 per person or four for £45, with a minimum charge based on ten people. Tell us about dietary requirements and drink preferences when you enquire so we can discuss what is possible.

Life drawing: the sketches become part of the story

You don’t need an artistic streak to enjoy hen party life drawing. Our 90-minute classes are about having a go, enjoying the company and seeing what everyone puts on the page. The masterpieces — and the wonderfully questionable attempts — give you something to take home.

Life drawing costs £25 per person, or £22.50 if paid in full. The bride’s free place counts within ten total attendees, so the minimum charge is £225 standard or £202.50 paid in full. Smaller groups can book at that minimum. If you fancy life drawing followed by cocktail making, ask us about availability and a combined quote.

Buff butlers: a host to help the celebration flow

A buff butler can welcome guests, pour fizz, hand out drinks, help get the party games going and bring a little cheeky charm to the afternoon or evening. They can also pose for pictures and help organise the group shot, so the person who normally takes every photo gets to be in one too.

Our butlers in the buff are £180 each for two hours, with travel included. If you have a bigger group, you can ask about booking more than one, subject to availability. We confirm your location, deposit and arrangements before booking.

Male performers: a surprise that suits your group

For a bride who would enjoy it, a male stripper or male performer can be the big surprise of the weekend. The important bit is choosing something she actually wants. A memorable moment should feel fun for the person at the centre of it.

You can give the performer a brief and ask about available outfits and themes, as well as a G-string or Full Monty finish. We discuss the options before the event. Performances last around 15–20 minutes and cost £180 per performer, with travel included and optional photos afterwards.

Your Cotswold hen weekend needs breathing room

You don’t have to book every activity to have a brilliant weekend. One or two well-chosen experiences, time to get ready, a proper meal and a lazy breakfast together can leave more room for the conversations you came for.

For a hen party in Cirencester or elsewhere in the Cotswolds, start with accommodation that works for your group. Check that your host allows visiting activity providers, that there is enough space for the activity, and that the noise and guest rules fit your plans. If you are planning a Bristol hen party, allow time between any city plans and activities at your accommodation.

Looking for a private chef, pamper treatments or somewhere everyone can stay? Explore our local accommodation and partner recommendations. Those services are arranged separately with the provider. We may earn a commission from a recommendation, and we ask before sharing your contact details.

Give the memories somewhere to live

  • Take one group photo with everyone in it, then put the phones down for a while.
  • Make a shared album afterwards and let guests choose which pictures they are happy to share.
  • Keep the life-drawing sketches, playlist or a few favourite photos as a little reminder of the weekend.
  • Leave gaps in the plan. Some of the best catch-ups happen over breakfast or while everyone gets ready.
  • Keep the group chat going. The next reunion is a good excuse to bring the stories back out.

You can talk to the person organising your activities

When you enquire with Cotswold Hen Party, you speak to me. I personally know everyone I send to your party, and I can help you work through what fits your group, your venue and your timings.

We bring our core activities to the Cotswolds, Bristol, Bath and other areas we cover. Check your date and postcode with us rather than worrying about having the whole weekend worked out first.

Try our party planner to explore the activities, or send me your date, location and wish list. You can also ask for a free 15-minute planning call.

Let’s make it a weekend that gets another laugh every time your friends get back together.
